Making money using a blog. Everybody wants to do it. Many people write blog posts about how to do it, like this one. Some provide different affiliate links that pay them when they get a customer. Some provide a service. But, when it comes to making money with a blog, is it real? or is it all just a game? Well, keep reading to find out more.
Blogs are used for many different things and come in many, many different topics. Lifestyle, fashion, food, travel, stay at home mom, dad blog, etc. I am sure by now we all should have a pretty good understanding about what a blog is and how to build one. I mean, there must be billions of blog posts telling exactly how to go about it. So what is this "blog monetizing" thing that keeps coming up in discussion? Well, as simply as can be put, it is when you use your blog site to bring you income or money. Yeah, how so? There are many different ways to do it.
*Selling a product or service
*Selling ad space on your site
*E-store or shop
And many different ways. So basically, you are using your website to bring you money but you have to have customers, clients and sales for that to happen. I know, it sounds all wonderful and glamorous to hear people say "I make money from my blog." Because who would have thought a blog could do that for a person? But you see, with all of the excitement comes a lot of confusion and to believe it or not many people do not tell the whole truth about how they really make money. But, that is just the world we live in. Have you ever been to a blog that tells you how to make a blog and it is filled with step by step instructions? Have you ever thought to yourself, cool but these instructions do not work for me. Maybe that is because they are giving you the way to build a blog using the same platforms and site hosts that they are using or have used, and of course as a new blogger you begin to think that is the right way to go about it. But do you even want to use those things? Do you know how? or are you just so drawn in by the advice and you want to start your blog now, so you begin following along.
Well, see that can happen as well for people who want to make money from their blog. They come across these lavish posts that tell details of how hundreds, and thousands of dollars are made just from blogging alone, and then all of these thoughts and the rush of excitement take over you and you begin to want the same thing. So you start going off applying for all of the affiliate marketing sites you can and you begin making posts and trying to get sales and traffic and you post in FB groups over and over, weekly on threads, looking for people to come click so you can get money and then...
Nothing. You are still at $0. Why? you did what the post said, you signed up for the sites to make money, you provided great content, why wasn't you making any real money like they are? Why are you not seeing hundreds of dollars? Because the truth is you are not them. You are just trying to copy what they did or said that they did and not really knowing all of what they did to get to that point. Are you on the other side of their computer? Are you in their house? Do you see what they do? No. And also who said what they did to get paid would be your way of getting paid too? Other people's results are not a guarantee for you. Their "strategies" are not yours so why would what they do work for you? Because they wrote a blog about it? So what.
Look, I am not saying that strategies and advice doesn't work, what I am saying is what works for another may not work for you. And have you ever taken the time to really ask yourself why you even want to make money from a blog? Did you just build a blog only for the purpose of making money? If that is the case then you may not get too far with it. Making money using the internet has become a very popular thing, because of employers and jobs becoming so stressful and unstable. You can be at a job for two years and then get laid off out of nowhere. You can be there shorter than that and still get laid off, so then now what? Well, of course the logical thing to do is either find another job or find a way to make some money. But turning to blogging as a quick fix may not be a good choice. Considering all that goes into even making a blog site. You have to come up with the name, decide if you want to be in a niche or not, design it, build it, add your elements that are important, have policies for privacy and disclaimers and you have to think if you will collect emails, and if so for what and what will you send these people who have given you this email of theirs? And also if you want a domain name you have to find which company you will get it from oh, and let's not forget if you choose to go with a site host. You have to think about a lot with a blog, it is not something you can just throw together and think the money will come rolling in, trust me I know. I use to think that way when I first began. I have learned a lot over this time. I have changed a lot about my site, my mission and my why. Blogging is not a way to bring in the cash fast. Even though it is possible it doesn't happen overnight, unless you are just damn good at using the internet.
When it comes to making money with your blog, you need to have a plan first. You have to provide good content for your readers and you have to give them a reason to give you their time and even money if you are selling something. If you choose to go the advertising or affiliate marketing route, well then you have to know how to bring about something that will be of interest to the people enough for them to click your link so that you can get a commission. It is 2017, soon to be 2018. People are wanting reasons why from us bloggers. That is just the way it is. And as a blogger we have to be able to provide them with that. Going for the money isn't always going to be an easy task even though it is possible. So once you figure out which way you want to go about monetizing your blog and why you want to, it may just be a bit easier to do. When you have the right focus point, being successful will soon follow.
Here is where you will find my mind on a page. I will be sharing with you many blog posts of many topics. So be prepared for the ride of excitement and inspiration. Enjoy and leave some comments before you leave, I love to hear what you thought about my words.
